May was a busy month, but this weekend has been a time for reflection. So many doors closed and new ones awaiting to be opened. For example:

My sister Gabriel had her baby boy, but my sister Rachel is having a girl in October.

My dad passing, but 2 lives coming into this world that we may enjoy and one named Phillip.

Graduation for my seniors was Friday, but now I begin focusing on a new group of seniors next fall.

Santana concert was awesome, but new concerts coming up next month each with the anticipation of a new experience.

End of 1st grade with his first yearbook, but beginning of 2nd grade and many yearbooks to come.

Fat Hater’s Club in its final stages of publishing, In the Eye of Prayer is just beginning.

Yesterday, I had the honor of being part of a very special group of seniors who sat around talking about teachers, parents, and life. Dreamsdontfade came up in the conversation when we went to take a picture of the seniors and myself near the sign. This will be the last senior class to graduate in the ATECh building. It would be the last time that sign would read “Virtual High School.” There was not enough room, so I climbed the sign like 5 of the other girls. We exchanged stories of our tattoos and one mom took a picture of my DDF tattoo. I gave an emotional speech dedicated to them. I got to read their names. I passed out DDF cards so they could keep in touch. It was a very special day DDF style.

I got to come home to my family and celebrate the ending of a school year. The beginning of a huge project for Robert whose team will be making the entire school district wireless. He is my hero! It is the beginning of the first summer I am taking off. It is the beginning of karate classes……

Like I said-as things close…new opportunities open, so hope as the doors close behind you that you keep focused on the door that has just opened in front of you.
