Jewel @ Aliante Hotel and Casino
July 20th, 2009 by Tanya in Reviews

The Jewel concert at Aliante Hotel and Casino was even better than the first time we enjoyed her exceptional voice at the grand opening of the Springs Reserve in Las Vegas, Nevada a few years previous. My now husband was already a huge fan and I had known two songs previous, but it was our first unofficial date. I wrote reviews and invited him to take photos for the review. We exchanged a lot that night along with Jewel’s stories which opened our own lines of communication. We will always be thankful for Jewel and her stories because we connected that night on a level never shared by either of us, so both concerts hold special places in our hearts. “You were meant for me” ended up being our theme song. Jewel had cancelled her concert in March which is our anniversary to take part in “Dancing with the Stars” which ended with her legs being hurt, but we followed and voted for her husband, Ty. We had watched PBR so Ty was a familiar name. We love the song “Stephenville” since that is about her relationship with Ty. We both love how Jewel can write a song that is personable, relatable, and touches the heart.

There is something to be said when an artist can walk on the stage with just her presence and a guitar; that is powerful. Jewel began her concert with her version of “Over the Rainbow” which was mesmerizing. Then in her humble way she asked the audience what songs we would like to hear. Then joked about herself, life, and experiences as she played each song. She is an ACOUSTIC GENIOUS. It is hard to fathom that her vocal range can move from a whisper to powerhouse in a matter of a few notes. Her vocal range tells a story because if her range was different then I would not have cried during “My Father’s Daughter,” or “Hands.” She has a knack for emphasizing certain notes that hit the heart, mind, and soul. When Jewel sings the audience is deathly quiet listening intently to how she spins her lyrical stories such as “Intuition,” “Stronger Woman,” “Foolish Games,” and “Who Will Save Your Soul.”

Another treat was her opening act, Ashley Monroe, who writes her own songs too. Her song “Used” was our favorite. She had the honor of singing along with Jewel and we have to say the duet was wonderful. Their harmony complimented each other so what an unexpected treat.

Two hours of non-stop vocal brilliance that culminated in her very popular yodeling skit which she learned at the age of six when her parents performed Vaudeville. This talented woman is also an artist, so go to her website to view her art work. Another way to keep up with her busy life is to follow her on twitter or read her blogs on her website. She is a very open, honest, and caring artist which is why she is in our top ten on our myspace. We are looking forward to Jewel returning to Las Vegas soon. We highly recommend you see Jewel in concert. It is a very unforgettable experience.

There’s usual this sentence about limousine driving “what happens in the car stays in the car”, but of course that doesn’t happen all the time. For example, Lionel Richie went to a limousine hire company to go down town. He was in the area for a function and planned to have dinner at a restaurant in Georgetown owned by a friend of his. But instead of having his driver wait in the car while he indulged, Richie invited her in, got her a table and took care of the tab.
But not all artistes are nice Richie. The Latina star used limos while promoting Spanish-language movie El Cantante in July (07). A spokesman for the company says she also ordered cars for husband Marc Anthony, stylist Ken Paves and her sister Linda. He tells New York gossip column PageSix, “Jennifer is being very difficult. We’ve been calling for several months to collect on the bill. When I asked why they aren’t paying, the account person claimed nobody had authorised the transactions.”
Or Billy Joel and Elton John who hired a limousine from their April 6 show at the Kohl Center and demanded that the Madison police helped by escorting the limos and blocking off intersections.
The extravagant couple Jay-Z and Beyoncé Knowles celebrated his birthday with a help of a limo. The rapper planned a subdued, very private celebration in Paris, the couple took a limo for a romantic drive around the City of Light settling down to an intimate dinner.
Other celebrities the in numerous different occasions like to use service of limousine hire and show a little luxury are World Heavyweight Boxing Champ “Buster” Douglas, Gerrard Warren “Big Money”, TV and movie actress Kym Whitley and the multiple Grammy winner and Platinum Music artist Kanye West.
There are also other kinds of preoccupation form the celebrity’s part, like the environment, making them hire hybrid limos, ecological limos for any kind of events. Alternative stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Davis Guggenheim, director of the Oscar-nominated documentary on global warming ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ hired green limousines to the star-studded ceremony in Hollywood.
