			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Ayers sparked controversy</strong> during last year&#8217;s presidential campaign when it was disclosed the former terrorist worked closely with Obama for years</p>
<p>-Founder of Weather Underground who bombed the New York City Police headquarters in 1970, the Capitol in 1971 and the Pentagon in 1972. The group was responsible for some 30 bombings aimed at destroying the defense and security infrastructures of the U.S.</p>
<p>-Characterizing Weathermen as &#8220;an American Red Army,&#8221; Ayers summed up the organization&#8217;s ideology: &#8220;Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents.&#8221;</p>
<p>-&#8221;Everything was absolutely ideal on the day I bombed the Pentagon,&#8221; Ayers recalled in his 2001 memoir, &#8220;Fugitive Days.&#8221; &#8220;The sky was blue. The birds were singing. And the bastards were finally going to get what was coming to them.&#8221;</p>
<p>-Ayers brandished his unrepentant radicalism for years to come, as evidenced by his now notorious 2001 interview with the New York Times, published one day after the 9/11 attacks, in which he stated, &#8220;I don&#8217;t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn&#8217;t do enough.&#8221;</p>
<p>-Ayers posed for a photograph accompanying the New York Times piece that showed him stepping on an American flag. He said of the U.S.: &#8220;What a country. It makes me want to puke.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Connection to our President:</strong></p>
<p>The Obama campaign has cried foul when Bill Ayers comes up, claiming &#8220;guilt by association.&#8221; Yet the issue here isn&#8217;t guilt by association; it&#8217;s guilt by participation. As CAC chairman, Mr. Obama was lending moral and financial support to Mr. Ayers and his radical circle.</p>
<p>The Chicago Annemberg Challenge was the brainchild of Bill Ayers who was the founder of the Weather Underground in the 1960s. Mr. Ayers and his cohorts bombed the Pentagon, and he has never expressed regret for his actions. Barack Obama&#8217;s first run for the Illinois State Senate was launched at a 1995 gathering at Mr. Ayers&#8217;s home.</p>
<p>Sen. Obama dismissed Mr. Ayers as just &#8220;a guy who lives in my neighborhood,&#8221; and &#8220;not somebody who I exchange ideas with on a regular basis.&#8221; Yet documents in the CAC archives make clear that Mr. Ayers and Mr. Obama were partners in the CAC.</p>
<p>CAC was supposedly created to improve Chicago&#8217;s public school. Mr. Obama was appointed the first chairman of the board, which handled fiscal matters. Mr. Ayers co-chaired the foundation&#8217;s other key body, the &#8220;Collaborative,&#8221; which shaped education policy.</p>
<p>The Obama campaign issued a statement saying that Mr. Ayers had nothing to do with Obama&#8217;s &#8220;recruitment&#8221; to the board. They claim Obama was recruited by  Deborah Leff and Patricia Albjerg Graham (presidents of other foundations). Yet the archives show that, along with Ms. Leff and Ms. Graham, Mr. Ayers was one of a working group of five who assembled the initial board in 1994. Mr. Ayers founded CAC . No one would have been appointed the CAC chairman without his approval.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m a radical, Leftist, small &#8216;c&#8217; communist,&#8221; Mr. Ayers said in an interview in Ron Chepesiuk&#8217;s, &#8220;Sixties Radicals,&#8221; at about the same time Mr. Ayers was forming CAC.</p>
<p>CAC disbursed money through various far-left community organizers, such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (or Acorn).</p>
<p>Mr. Obama once conducted &#8220;leadership training&#8221; seminars with Acorn, and Acorn members also served as volunteers in Mr. Obama&#8217;s early campaigns. External partners like the South Shore African Village Collaborative and the Dual Language Exchange focused more on political consciousness, Afrocentricity and bilingualism than traditional education.</p>
<p>CAC funded programs that promoted parents and teachers in &#8220;leadership&#8221; roles.</p>
<p>Mr. Obama&#8217;s alma mater, the Developing Communities Project, to recruit parents to its overall political agenda. CAC records show that board member Arnold Weber was concerned that parents &#8220;organized&#8221; by community groups might be viewed by school principals &#8220;as a political threat.&#8221; Mr. Obama arranged meetings with the Collaborative to smooth out Mr. Weber&#8217;s objections.</p>
<p>Mr. Ayers is the founder of the &#8220;small schools&#8221; movement (heavily funded by CAC), in which individual schools built around specific political themes push students to &#8220;confront issues of inequity, war, and violence.&#8221; He believes teacher education programs should serve as &#8220;sites of resistance&#8221; to an oppressive system. (His teacher-training programs were also CAC funded.) The point, says Mr. Ayers in his &#8220;Teaching Toward Freedom,&#8221; is to &#8220;teach against oppression,&#8221; against America&#8217;s history of evil and racism, thereby forcing social transformation.</p>
<p><strong>Education Reform: &#8220;Safe Schools&#8221; ??????<br />
</strong></p>
<p>Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Undersecretary Martha Kanter keynoted an education reform seminar where William Ayers was a major speaker and participant. What kind of education reform can we expect?</p>
<p>Duncan and Kanter discussed their education initiatives at a convention for the Renaissance Group, which defines itself on its website as &#8220;a proactive force for the improvement and reform of education, locally, regionally and nationally.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Add to the mix</strong> Obama&#8217;s &#8220;Safe Schools Czar&#8221; Kevin Jennings and the GLSEN(Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network) Reading List. Beware as you click on this link. I don&#8217;t approve of a reading list that promotes heterosexual erotica in the classroom, but Jennings pushes for homosexual erotica. <p>Barack Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar” was the keynote speaker at the GLSEN/Boston Conference at Tufts University in 2000. <p><span style="font-family:Arial; font-size:10pt">We didn&#8217;t start celebrating Memorial Day until after the Civil War, but it was during that conflict, November of 1863, that President Abraham Lincoln gave his historic and eloquently laid out Gettysburg Address:<br />

What an intriguing story, so the next time you see a history book, ask yourself how much you don&#8217;t know about our own history. Want to learn a bit more?<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We have been nothing but impressed with our son&#8217;s instructor, Robert Diamant, at the Canyon Gates Dojo in Las Vegas, Nevada. The dojo is spacious, warmly decorated in red, black, and yellow. The beauty of the Bonsai tree is painted on the wall where the students face at the beginning of each session. USSD&#8217;s logo is the Bonsai Tree. The Bonsai symbolizes the qualities that are taught in the dojo: wisdom, adaptability, strength, character, truth, and longevity.</p>
<p>There are inspirational quotes lining the walls that teach wisdom, kindness and responsibility. Sensei Bob makes sure the parents are welcome by having coffee, tea, and snacks available. He is one that likes to create a family atmosphere, so he enjoys providing gifts for his students during Christmas. He made sure the kids had a safe place to go on Halloween night, so we are very thankful to have such a positive influence on our son who cares for him. We can entrust that he will encourage and reinforce our values. Sensei Bob and students participated in ninja night where the kids get to spend the night at the dojo. They had a blast and just to reveal what kind of sensei our son has, he built a trophy to create a bit of competitiveness between dojos. The winning dojo got to keep the trophy until the next ninja night.</p>
<p>Our son has three group sessions and one private session each week. It takes time and dedication for the whole family, but we believe it is worth it, especially when the dojo is filled with the sounds of kids yelling &#8220;kiai.&#8221; Pronounced key-eye and means: spirit yell.</p>
<p>Sensei Bob uses different teaching methods to meet the needs of many types of kids. There are students with Down syndrome in our son&#8217;s class. He is strict and expects students to listen, respect, and to perform to the best of their ability. He rewards them not only for performing, but also for following instructions or being helpful to a fellow student. The kids are learning the competitive techniques of karate, but also team work, self-discipline, how to focus, how to concentrate, positive attitude, patience, and how to deal with emotions. Our son is learning that he needs to practice if he would like to test for his next belt. Sensei Bob is direct with our son when he can see he had not practiced, so he reinforces what we are teaching him at home. Our son is learning that he will not win every time just because he shows up, but that he has to lose gracefully, and beyond that show good sportsmanship.</p>
<p>Sensei Bob uses stars and ninjas to reward students along with his verbal cues that make kids smile, jump up and down, and try harder. He has a way of joking with the kids on their level while teaching a new technique. He is like a big kid when he is teaching the group, but very serious during the private session. He really strives to help our son perfect his movements and learn the art of balance. He has a knack for seeing which two kids would work the best together to gain sparring skills. Our son and his best friend have practiced together and are exciting to watch as they perform a kata, DM, or pinan.</p>
<p>When we signed up our son he was provided a dogi (pronounced ghee) with the USSD patch, DVD, and book. We were able to set up a monthly payment plan. We were able to buy the sparring gear as a special. Our son has three 45 minute group sessions and one half hour of private lessons. He took part in his first competition which was a humbling experience for him since he did not earn a trophy, but we were proud to see him perform in front of a huge audience.</p>
<p>It is said that our kids are the best investment, so we believe that the experiences our son is having at the Canyon Gates dojo are priceless. If you are interested at all in an activity that will teach more than just a sport then give a USSD dojo a visit. While there, check out the &#8220;free session&#8221; provided for all new comers.
