Parents Prepare for Battle

***Satan wants you to outsource raising your children***

***Shape their children’s understanding of God’s truth***

***God leads: the Holy Spirit empowers us so pray over the war for our children’s eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord***

Biblical Spoken Truth:

-Logos is Greek meaning word, reason, or plan. In Christian theology, the divine reason in the cosmos, ordering it, and giving it form and meaning.

-John refers to Jesus as the Word in the New Testament (Jesus is the spoken truth)

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

-In Genesis God speaks all things into existence. God said let there be light……

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and birds in the sky, over the livestock and all with wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1: 26-27).

The Parent Problem:

-indifferent to God’s word

-completely blind to the battle

-complacency that opens door for the enemy to mold our children’s beliefs through teachers and other outside influences executing a different battle plan

-underestimate Satan-his army have strategic plans through education to indoctrinate our children’s minds which is happening as early as pre-school (ex. Teddy & Friend book-if you feel like a girl rather than a boy, 1st grade “I am Jazz” book read through the eyes of a transgender teenager’s journey that explains hormone blockers at age 11 and reassignment surgery at age 17)

-curriculum flies in the face of God’s perfect design for men and women that is not supported by science

Truth is an ideology construct:

1. Truth: the actual state of a matter, an adherence to reality, or an indisputable fact. It refers to the version of reality that we exist in.

2. Reality: State of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them. The quality of having existence or substance.

-Type of reality = Objective: anything that is measurable, observable and would exist. Ex. Physical Laws (see Why the Universe Is The Way It Is by Hugh Ross Book Review Blog)

-Type of reality = Subjective: sways on a scale based on person (my truth vs. your truth) so it is what you believe, your opinion, and can used to indoctrinate or move a person’s belief or opinion to the extreme. Ex. Political views, educational curriculum, & teaching like sex education k-12 or angry white men studies offered on our college campuses

-Type of reality = Intersubjective: describes things that exist because we collectively believe they exist to the point where we would argue that the belief is objective truth. Ex. Printing money will not affect the economy, no need for religion because God doesn’t exist, Fame and celebrity is the ultimate goal for all people (TikTok fame), laws are white supremacy so no physical truths or moral truths

3. Ideology: set of opinions or beliefs of a group or an individual that characterize culture. A system of ideas and ideals, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy. Ex. Capitalism, communism, socialism, and Marxism

-political: set of ethical ideals, principles, doctrines, myths or symbols of a social movement, institution, class, or large group that explains how society should work and offers some political and cultural blueprint for a certain social order. Views the world that exhibit a recurring pattern that is deliberate. Ex. Socialism, Feminism, multiculturalism, etc…& Curriculum, Social, emotional, learning & Diversity, equity, inclusion, Black live matters movement, Transgender movement, Drag queen family friendly shows, Sex education, Pronouns, Gender affirming surgeries, Puberty blockers, Chemical castration,

-social: the sum total of a person’s values, beliefs, assumptions, and expectations that exists within society, within groups, and between people. It shapes our thoughts, actions, and interactions, along with what happens in society at large. Ex. Curriculum, Social, emotional, learning & Diversity, equity, inclusion, Black live matters movement, Transgender movement, Drag queen family friendly shows, Sex education, Pronouns, Gender affirming surgeries, Puberty blockers, Chemical castration

-epistemological: theory of knowledge that is concerned with the mind’s relation to reality and how they justify beliefs from opinions. Ideology that shares a distinct set of beliefs, attitudes, values, and behaviors. Ex. Popularize an ideology of a group like the transgender movement, so all must accept and celebrate or become the enemy of the community, state, and nation

-ethical: blends virtues with practical wisdom to make decisions based on core character values like trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship. Ex. 10 commandments covers ethical behaviors that instructs on what is good or bad so produces actions

-Standards: You reap what you sow

“Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus, the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor” (John 4: 36-38).

Moral Compass: Untruth Culture suppresses truth

-wages war on knowledge to lose one’s self-grip on reality (can’t define what a woman is, biology doesn’t exist, gender is fluid)

-gets rid of definable contradictions and falsehoods (ex. Marxism: man completes himself through man’s processes and social processes =all white heterosexual men are white supremacists; Equity only includes brown and black people all the rest ha white privilege, gender affirming care, reproductive healthcare, queer theory-dismantles traditional gender by tying gender and sexuality as socially and culturally constructed concepts)

-dehumanizing constructs used to justify one’s behavior to harm other people (ex. Belief color of skin- brown and black-are all victims, so harming those not in accepted group are worthy of harm)

-must affirm and validate self-perception, other’s self-perception becomes your problem is you want it or not (ex. Why speak against if not affecting you? Let people just be who they want to be, they are not stealing its reparations, don’t believe what you see with your eyes)

-gains control of language through manipulation like the laws of grammar and redefining words to make it acceptable by society or to keep people silent (ex. Emotional blackmail: manipulation where someone uses your feelings to control your behavior or persuade you to see things their way. Pronouns: Ze/Zer, non-binary they/them)

The Parent Solution:

1. Examine what is happening in your children’s lives even if they are teenagers

2. Be diligent on our responsibility as parents on spiritual training and development

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6: 6-9).

“This is why it is said: Wake up, sleeper, ride from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Be very careful then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5: 14-16).

“Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your homes” (Nehemiah 4:14).

5. God arms us with whatever we need for the battle

“10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people” (Ephesians 6: 10-18).

Winds of Culture

-Christians are dealing with a changing world

-God doesn’t change-He’s the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow

-God’s character is eternally fixed from generation to generation

“For I am the Lord, I do not change; therefore, you are not consumed, o sons of Jacob” (Malachi 36: 6).

“Like a cloak you will change them, and they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end” (Psalm 102:26-27).

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

 

Culture has changed radically in a very short time

-Hostility toward Christians has been magnified in all areas of life: healthcare, family, education, politics, public square, and society

1. Sanctity of life=Reproductive Health Care

-Should be named the Anti-Reproductive Health Care Act it only reflects the end of a pregnancy, so reproduction has already occurred and in some way needs to be removed

-by definition, reproductive encompasses the reproductive organs such as the tissues, glands, and organs involved in producing offspring (children). Women= ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and vagina. Men= prostate, testes, and the penis

-by definition, reproduction is the biological process by which new individual organisms (offspring/children) are produced. Reproduction is a fundamental feature of all known life. Each individual organism exists is the result of reproduction.

-by definition, abortion is the process of removing the unwanted offspring/child so instead of healthcare to ensure the mother and baby stay healthy the focus on ridding the body of the unwanted reproduction. There are two ways to rid the body of a baby is medical abortion so abortion with pills and/or procedural abortion that removes the pregnancy from the uterus

2. Sanctify of Marriage=replaced with Respect for Marriage Act

Ex. Marriage equal to traditional marriage for those who identify in or outside of their biological gender included is non-binary and other obscure pronouns which grammatically are not pronouns Ze/Zer

3. Trans movement=you must celebrate their definitions and lifestyles as beneficial and should overpower those that are heterosexuals

- kindergarten-12th grade groomer style sex education

-gender affirming pronouns introduced in elementary school

-trans movements included in all content areas under guise of diversity, equity, & inclusion

-forced celebration= drag parades, drag story hours, drag kid friendly shows

4. Trans affirming/conforming healthcare:

-Chemical castration=puberty blockers & gender affirming surgeries=breast mastectomy or penectomy   -offer access to breast binders, penis tuck directions, abortions, and other gender affirming healthcare (normally hidden from parents)

Pulpit Prey to Whims of Culture

*Declare the truth of God’s word

*Do not fear

*Proclaim scripture with no shame

*Be Shepherds

-who is leading their flocks astray

-feed them truth by failing by scripture

*Be Watchmen

-word of God is not fully programed

-commands of scripture are compromised

*Be the Church

-scripture is treasured and undiluted preaching

Culture Says

1. It is okay to have churches marry non-binary couples

2. It is okay to say gender is determined by a whim

3. It is okay to not honor Biology

4. It is okay for schools to teach and encourage impressionable young children to make gender transitions (solves all the unhappiness in the world)

5. It is okay to lie, level up on evil, and spread devastating perverted logic

God Says

1. God warns us that then people turn their backs on Him that His wrath will be poured out against the unrighteous and ungodliness

“For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise, also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting” Romans 1: 26-28).

2. The Bible is clear that there is no such thing as a transgender person

“From the beginning of creation, God made them male and female” (Mark 10: 6).

3. God’s word is the authority, never changes, and is God’s whole counsel. Even Satan knows we are born in sin alienated and separated from a Holy God, so he seeks to blind us from the liberating power of God

“God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes will not perish but have ever lasting life” (John 3:16).

**Forever changed by Jesus-your lifestyle will be radically changed as you love to obey the commands in the scriptures while removing the culture’s grip on our hearts.

Last 2022 Facebook Post

 “Unto us a child is born” is often the beginning of the birth of Jesus most are familiar with, but as much as I love the story and that “Jesus is the Reason for the Season” I ran across this one scripture that caught my attention so I thought I would share. (On a side note, if you do read then look at Matthew from the perspective of Joseph and Luke focuses on the experiences of Mary. Interesting to read through different vantage points)


I digress, the scripture is found in the Old Testament in the Book of Isaiah. He was one of the greatest prophets who can be found historically at the collapse of the Northern Kingdom around 721/722 B.C. King of Judah, Uzziah had just died in 742 B.C. It is here that Isaiah is called into prophetic service in the Temple of Jerusalem. Isaiah’s vision of God’s majesty was so overwhelming that military and political power faded into insignificance. He constantly called his people back to reliance on God’s promises and away from vain attempts to find security in human control. In two short verses, Isaiah prophesizes not only Jesus’ birth, but the purpose of his ministry, fulfillment of death to His miraculous resurrection, and the rise of his eternal kingdom where He will reign forever. We are all invited:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9: 6-7).

In the New Testament, Jesus reads the same verses from Isaiah. Proclaiming the Messianic prophecy has been fulfilled. After His birth story, Jesus’ life reflects his proclamation that through him all can be saved-He never forced or demanded or threatened but gave the choice to believe. He withstood in masses that rejected Him. The story of Jesus’ birth is the beginning of His way to the cross.

--Do you see the distorted ripples of control today?

--You will surrender your life to something. God’s word enables us to relinquish our tendency to pattern worldly behaviors.

--Just because it is legal, or a bill has been passed doesn’t make it moral.

Cultural norms are difficult to bypass. These norms influence our desires and shape our decisions. They function like peer pressure-feeling obligated to try one thing or another. God’s word is a guidepost should recognize it as the standard for living. It shapes our way of thinking, which eventually plays out in what we do.

“A person may think their own ways are right, but the LORD weighs the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice” (Proverbs 21: 2-3).

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will” (Romans 12:2)

Prayers: God, thank your for nudging me gently to find answers in your word. Help me to act on it and not make excuses to look elsewhere. Lord God, too often I allow myself to think in ways that lead me to act contrary to your Word. Help me guard my thoughts so my ways will please you.

The Antidote to Fear

“Believers in our Risen Lord and Savior to stand firm in their faith and bear strong and godly witness to a panicked world” (Graham).

-Inflation: cost of groceries, gas, and heating bills

-Violence: brazen daylight brutal attacks, shootings, looters, and stealing. Evil acts have made people feel unsafe and helpless

-Government: turning our country into a socialist welfare state

“God recognizes that fear does rise in the believer’s heart on occasion. The Lord knows our tendency to worry and fret, and He also tells us what to do about our worries” (Graham).

Psalm 56: 3-4 “when I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh (or any circumstance in life) do to me?”

We can look confidently to all-knowing, all-powerful, Almighty God in simple trust and faith when the turbulent waves of anxiety that sweep through our so easily frightened culture are raging.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

Duty Calls: The Mandate for Christian Citizens

“Christians in the United States hold dual citizenship. The Apostle Paul spoke to all Christians that we are citizens of a heavenly kingdom. Our heavenly citizenship is the most important possession we have secured by Jesus Christ our Savior” (Mohler).

No Earthly citizenship compares to eternal citizenship in Heaven. Paul even claimed his Roman citizenship when he was unjustly arrested Paul for preaching the Gospel in Jerusalem. “I am a citizen by birth” Paul announced (Acts 22:28).

Like Paul, Christians are American citizens who have dual citizenship. Augustine, one of the fathers of the ancient church, taught his flock to understand that there are two cities that demand our attention and allegiance. The City of God and the City of Man.

-City on Earth: the drive is for the love of humanity itself

 -City of God: the passion is for the love of God

“He was trying to help Christians be faithful in our earthly citizenship, even as we wait for Heaven” (Mohler).

Christians are called to be salt and light in a darkening culture, and faithfulness calls out our deepest convictions and our active discipleship:

Our Voice

1. Christian citizens must exercise the power f our voices and speak truth about the issues of our day.

2. The left chants “silence is violence,” but Christians must know that silence is unfaithfulness.

3. We are called to tell the truth, even when it costs us.

4. Speak on behalf of the unborn; against the destruction of precious human lives in the womb.

5. Speak out for marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

6. Speak out for the sanctity of the family as the most essential unit of human civilization.

7. Speak for righteousness and goodness and contend for laws that are just for policies that uphold what is right.

8. The Christian citizen must be ready to speak, to make arguments, to engage in conversations and to make our convictions known.

-Book of Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time to speak and when it is right to be silent.

-The prophet Ezekiel tells us that a failure to speak when danger approaches is a horrible sin. The Watchman on the Wall is to make the warning clear.

9. Christian citizens must be ready to speak, to make arguments, to engage in conversations and to make our convictions known.

Our Vote

1. American constitutional system is based upon the right and responsibility of citizens to vote.

2. Participate in elections and fulfill the citizen’s duty to choose the best candidates and make the right choices, vote by vote.

3. Voting is an enormous act of stewardship, so all elections are important from national elections to those offices such as the local school board.

Our Victory

“Politics Is not for the faint of heart, and Christians know the political fray can be tumultuous. Furthermore, we do not win every battle or election. But we stay involved, engaged and energetic, knowing that we must work for what is right until Jesus comes. We will know both victory and setbacks in the City of Man, but only victory in the City of God. Every vote count, every election matters, and every Christian citizen is called to be faithful. We have work to do, and DUTY CALLS” (Mohler).

“Choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them” (Brene’ Brown).

The Gospel’s Answer to Racism

Critical Race Theory: Seven Hard Truths

1. America is about individual equality, not group equity

-The idea behind CRT is that America is just groups, defined by skin color. They do not see America as individuals with separate souls, goals, dreams, schemes, skills, hopes, and God-given attributes.

-As a self-governing people, we have a constitution that recognizes our individuality, gives us each the same rights under law. Our differences give us separate paths to success, defined by free will. No group equity is written in the Constitution.

2. Equal opportunity is not an equal outcome. The Constitution gives all Americans an equal shot: education, employment, property ownership, returns, and resilience. Equal protection means the right to rise or fall, to succeed or fail= equal under the law

-CRT concentrates power to equalize outcomes, regardless of who earned what. Hard work and trust in the individual are gone.

3. CRT is itself racist. CRT not only assigns all life grievances by one race to another. Merit based achievement is rejected in favor of reverse racism. Easier to hate and blame than love and support.

-Teaches the assumption that we are not equal in God’s eyes or the eyes of the law, and never can be in each other’s eyes. Teaches children resentment, blame, and hopelessness. This kills the American Dream.

4. CRT denies upward mobility. It denies that hard wok and equal protection succeed. Upward mobility is the gaping hole in Marx’s bucket, draining it of power.

-To believe in CRT, you must believe your skin color defines your ability to succeed.

5. CRT immorally pushes intergenerational guilt. It is a fraud because the only way to justify putting one race down for another and openly teaching resentments is to pin the past on the present.

-Intentional guilt infliction of intergenerational guilt, making successors responsible for ancestors, is fundamentally immoral.

-Morality centers on individual accountability

-Individual sovereignty under natural, constitutional, and statute law; every life is sacred and belongs to itself.

-debt slavery and peonage and CRT are concepts that builds resentment is immoral

Ezekiel 18:20 “The child shall not share the guilt of the parent.”

6. CRT empowers elites to persecute: Marxist countries uses racial, ethnic, religious, or economic group to blame for society’s ills (elite push mass persecution)

7. CRT ignores data. America The biggest lie is that America is racist.

-America attracts more minorities than any country in the world.

-By wealth, Black, Hispanic, and Asian Americans account for 25% of America’s Millionaires

-American dream is upward mobility through Capitalism-work hard and you will be successful

“CRT is Marxism, pushing resentment, blame, guilt, fear, silence, and compliance. Do not buy it. Americans cleave by values, not skin color. Critical race theory is junk--A disgrace.” Robert B. Charles

The Problem with the 1619 Project

“Together with critical race theory, wokeness, and cancel culture, parents and patriots alike will have to monitor their local school curricula carefully.” Jeff Szymanski

Claim: August 1619 a ship arrived in coastal port in the British colony of Virginia. It carried more than 20 enslaved Africans, who were sold to colonists. America was not yet America, but this was the moment it began.

Problems:

1. “One critical reason that the colonists declared their independence from Britain was because they wanted to protect the institution of slavery in the colonies, which had produced tremendous wealth.”

Nikole Hannah-Jones “Our democracy’s ideals were false when they were written.” And “Some of the colonists fought to preserve slavery.”

2. History: American Revolution originated as a rallying cry of “no taxation without representation” as Great Britain levied taxes on colonists in America without any input (Tax on Tea)

3. America’s founding takes on a dark view where blacks forever struggle for rights that will never be achieved. “anti-black racism runs in the very DNA of the country.” (Hannah-Jones).

4. Leads to political paralysis as there is nothing, we can do to get out of it as you can’t alter DNA.

-America is so inherently racist to its core that people cannot grow or change over time.

-Education itself would be useless as society fated to be racist forever.

Promotes:

-Curriculum: Hannah-Jones claim that she discovered a fundamental truth about American History that has eluded the historical profession: That the central defining feature of American history and culture is racism

-Redefines America’s history as a struggle between ‘oppressors (white people)’ and the ‘oppressed (everybody else)’

-Marxism’s reduction of human history: majority-white societies are “systemically” or “structurally racist.”

-used to divide American people based on color of their skin that creates dysfunction, hate, and strife between white Americans and black Americans which is opposite of Dr. Martin Luther’s teaching of not being judged by the color of your skin but content of your character.

Negates:

-Pilgrims landed in the Mayflower in 1620 in Massachusetts

-1776 Traditional date of the Declaration of Independence is our National Holiday on July 4th

“A racially divisive, revisionist account of history that denies the noble principles of freedom and equality on which our nation was founded Not a single cent of federal funding should go to indoctrinate young Americans with this left-wing garbage.” Senator Tom Cotton

Affecting Today:

HR 1 (S1) “For the People Act” applies racially discriminatory Jim Crow descriptions of state election reform and integrity laws. (ID at the polls is discriminatory as marginalized people of color don’t have access to get an ID to vote)

-used in the disastrous “open border” policy which is an egregious assault on our nation’s sovereignty and the safety of Americans.

-used to increate punitive tax increases that spawned inflation, high interest rates, business closures, and job losses leading to dependency on the federal government welfare (tenant of national socialism)

Voting Rights Act: Give the Justice Department’s Civil Rights division the authority to march into any election to pick political and economic winners and losers.

HR 5 “Equality Act” intended to sow division between sexual identity and biological sex issues that arise in the broad range of community, educational, religious, and sports and recreational circumstance.

HR 842 “Protecting the Right to Organize Act” intended to increase Democrat party control by promoting labor union organization and power in businesses also known as “Workers of the World, Unite!” right out of Marx and Engel’s Communist Manifesto.

Examples: Black Lives Matter, Defund the Police, Cancel Culture, and Critical Race Theory

Did the pandemic reveal the character of the American church-Part 1?

Silence & Complacency? Stability was shaken even in the church.

-Billy Graham “bad politicians are elected by good people who don’t vote.

-Ronald Reagan “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

Jude 1:4 states “for certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.”

American History Removed and Replaced with Movements

American History: Schools are adopting movements and removing the true foundation of America. Adopting The 1619 Project overrides America’s founding was not marked by the Declaration of Independence in 1776, but the arrival of the first African Slaves in Jamestown in 1619. The malicious slander is being taught in schools as truth. It teaches that America is, was, and always has been a fundamentally racist country. White Americans today bear responsibility for all current and historic racism.

What role do people within the LGBTQ+ community play in the movement?

The fourth and final supporting directs the attention to those most intimately affected by the movement’s progress, people of the LGBTQ+ community themselves. The sources’ shift in point of view moves the inquiry towards consideration of the first-hand accounts of those impacted, personalizing the reality behind the policies, decisions, and reactions. Rewriting history opens the door to Critical Race Theory= diversity, equity, and inclusion.

2021 I wrote to the Nevada State Education Board and CCSD School Board

Critical Race Theory (CRT) inhibits unity by segregating students into groups based on race and skin color. CRT advocates assigning levels of “privilege” and “oppression” to individuals/students; therefore, creating animosity from the perceived oppressors, and false sense of entitlement from the oppressed. This is a divisive ideology and separates our community.

A child should never be taught to feel guilty or ashamed of the color of their skin. CRT is a far-left mentality that is opposite of what MLK fought for which is “don’t judge a person by the color of their skin but instead the content of their character.” Many students identify as multi-ethnic which means CCSD would be putting a student in opposition within the family causing harm as the student is expected to choose one parent as oppressor and the other as oppressed. This is not a safe space for students on a CCSD campus.

At a time of obscene inequities merely trying to compensate is not enough so AASA must go further and become actively anti-racist.

Understand that anti-racism does not mean equal treatment of others. It is an all-encompassing ideology that demands that white people accept that their behavior is implicitly racist and explicitly racist. If you say you are not racist only proves that you are racist. You are so racist you don’t even know it. If being called a racist upset, you then that is proof of your white fragility.

Learn about the influencers like Ibram X. Kendi who is the author of How to be an Anti-Racist state that “there is no ‘not racist.’ There is only racist and anti-racist. Your silence favors the status quo and the violently oppressive harm it does to black and brown folk everywhere.” Anti-racism embraces racism if done on their terms.

The mantra is:

 “The only remedy to racist discrimination is anti-racist discrimination.”

“The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination.”

“Arsonists (Black Lives Matters) should serve as a model for teachers.” Lorena German who is the head of the committee of anti-racism of English teachers.

“Educators, what are you burning? Your white-centered curriculum? The school’s racist policies? Your racist ass principal? The funding for the police in school vs. counselors?

It is a call to get rid of traditional school curriculum. Groups named culturally responsive education working group wants to transform our public schools: A guide to culturally responsive & sustaining education.

“The whole western canon is rife with horrible stories & atrocities of who we are as a people of color.”

The National Committee on social studies want to instill in our youth that there is racial inequality in economic opportunity, education, incarceration rates, and brutality from police and others. (This is political indoctrination)

Indoctrination: cultural and political polarization: power, privilege, access, and inequity

Teaching tolerance = Anti-racist educators recognize that schools today are doing exactly what they were built to do in this country. “There is no Apolitical classroom”

Churches Awaken

The temptation to be quiet and simply carry on with life can indeed be strong

Equip our kids and families to answer when man’s worldview is not a biblical worldview

1. In the Old Testament book of Esther, there’s a great passage that speaks to this issue

-Esther has an opportunity to speak t the king and help her people, but she’s reluctant to approach him for fear of what it will cost her. Here uncle Mordecai offers this response:

-When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, he sent back this answer “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this” (Esther 4: 12-14).

2. Church is in the position to be able to speak up and defend our God-given Freedoms:

- “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven” (Matthew 5: 14-16).

3. When we stay silent, we are covering our light-the truth of God’s word-when we should be shining it for all to see. It may be scary, uncomfortable, even risky to speak out, but when tempted to stay silent, remember:

- “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can stand against us?” (Romans 8:31).

The church and politics: Vote

1 in 3 Christians may not vote in this election. I was energized yesterday which was the 1st day for early voting. We took part in a rally where I talked to people which many of them were elderly and listened to their concerns about food, gas, and energy prices. I’ve been told to keep politics out of the church, but religion plays a powerful role in politics, and the relationship between the two is every-changing. The governing of a state cannot be separated from the religious views of its people that affect the leaders and lawmakers of a country. Law mirrors society.


Therefore, I believe defending our children is always the right thing to do. Education is advancing policies that are risking the health, safety, and well being of our kids. They are the most vulnerable among us, so educators are dangerously undermining the relations with parents and their kids. Education is undermining the foundation of civilization which are our families.

I watched a youth pastor address the school board. He calmly told them that “God will judge each and every one of you.” He recited Luke 17: 2 where Jesus states:

“It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble” (Luke 17: 2)

Jesus’ warning can also be read in the Book of Matthew:

“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!” (Matthew 18: 5-7).

There is a conspiracy to target and indoctrinate our children into the cult of gender ideology that fosters delusion, intentionally creates an identity crisis in young, impressionable kids. It’s a path to confusion and despair.

These kids are lost and ready to be plucked up by the evils of this world. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20)

The church is the hope of this world who are to be salt and light. “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot” (Matthew 5:13). “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

The purpose of the church is to stand firm in God’s words in truth ready to battle against the darkness that wants to eliminate freedom. The freedom that Jesus provided on the cross when he gave a path for us to have the courage to not compromise his truth. “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil” (1 Peter 3: 15-17). It is time for the church to take on the armor of God. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:10-11).

Things to think about:
-Informed people not easy to manipulate
-faith and politics can exist side by side
-Our founders understood the importance of spirituality in history and politics
-American Values: Pledge of Allegiance, Patriotism, Appreciation of Flag, Liberty, Freedom, "In God We Trust," "One Nation," "Under God," "In God We Trust," Declaration of Independence, "unalienable rights," "Indivisible," "Justice for All"
-God is referenced throughout our judicial and legislative history
-separation of church and state does not mean that you must remove your faith from public life and your voting decisions

Chapter 1: What does a Boundary Look Like?

Invisible Boundary Lines

-Physical boundaries mark a visible property so does spiritual world

-Boundaries define your soul and they help you to guard it and maintain it

Proverbs 4: 23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

-Boundaries define us-we have a sense of ownership-knowing what I am to own and take responsibility for gives me freedom

**God designed a world where we live within ourselves-we inhabit our own soul

Proverbs 14:10 “Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy.”

-As Christians we are called to bear each other’s burdens, but not to take responsibility

Galatians 6:5 “Each one should carry their own load.”

-A boundary guards your heart so you can deal with your own feelings, attitudes, responsibilities, and behaviors

God and Boundaries

-Boundaries come from the very nature of God

-God defines Himself so nothing is hidden-He freely shares what He feels, thinks, plans, allows, what He will not allow, likes, and dislikes

Ex. 1 John 4:16 “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in in God, and God in them.”

Ex. John 17:24 “Father, I want those you have given me to do with where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.”

1. Boundary of words

-being clear on your no—and your yes—is a theme that runs throughout the Bible

-Your yes is what you choose to accept, but your no is a boundary that you state what you will not tolerate.

**Poor boundaries struggle with saying no to the control, pressure, demands, and sometimes the real need of others.

2. Boundary of truth

-knowing the truth about God and his property puts limits on you and shows his boundaries

Ex. Galatian 6:7 “Do not be deceived: God will not be mocked A man reaps what he sows.”

-To be in touch with God’s truth is knowing the truth about yourself. The Bible is clear on how you should view Biblical values.

-Remember to take time to replenish yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Jesus removed himself in times as he knew He needed that connection to God and allow the Holy Spirit to refresh his soul so He could do stay focused on him mission of being the redeemer of all namkind.

**Satan is a great distorter of reality and truth which only leads to disaster

3. Emotional Distance

-the heart needs space to stay safe (is encountering abuse then need to separate to fully heal)

-a support system should give you strength, but not take control of your life

-not having boundaries can lead and keep you in bondage, so true freedom comes by living within God’s boundaries for your life

4. Consequences

-the Bible sets consequences for certain behaviors so having boundaries can protect you from consequences

-we get distracted from what God wants us to do, so the focus should be on what I am called to be so I have a focused heart

-God doesn’t enable irresponsible behavior

Ex.2 Thessalonians 3:10 “For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

5. Feelings

-feelings should neither be ignored nor place in charge

-the Bible says to own your feelings and aware of them

-you are defined by what Jesus did for you

-you must own your feelings as you are held responsible for how you respond toward yourself and others

6. Attitudes and Beliefs

-attitude is your orientation toward something: God, life, work, and relationships

-beliefs are anything that you accept as true

-Jesus refers to the dynamic between attitudes and beliefs

Ex. Mark 7:8 “You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

Ex. Matthew 15:3 “Jesus replied, And why do you break the command of God for the safe of your tradition?”

7. Behaviors

-behaviors have consequences-we reap what we sow so there is a natural consequence t our behavior

Ex. Hebrews 12: 1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

8. Choices

-we must take responsibility for our choices

-don’t decide based on others’ approval

-a sinful nature is real, so poor choices lead to guilt that breeds resentment

Ex. Joshua 24:15 “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

9. Values

-value is what we love to assign importance to

-have a heart for things that satisfy

Ex. John 12:43 “for they loved human praise more than praise from God.”

-boundaries help us not deny but own our old hurtful values so God can change them

10. Limits

-God set standards, but He lets people who they are and then separates Himself from them when they misbehave

-Heaven is a place for the repentant not those who follow Satan who is the father of not limits and lies that lead a man to destruction

-scripture is full of admonitions to separate ourselves from people who act in destructive ways

Ex. 1 Corinthians 5: 11 “ But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[a] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

-protect love by taking a stand against all that destroys love

-setting our own internal limits (feelings, impulses, desires, acting out)

-we need self-control without repression-it is good to be able to tell yourself no

-God says to take responsibility for your boundaries, identity, and self-control

11. Resources and Gifts

-don’t waste the talents God has given you through the fruits of the Spirit

-God-ordained responsibility for ownership and stewardship of our resources

Ex. Money is held accountable not to mention happier when not abusing it to be in bondage to debt

-we are to exercise our gifts by being productive

-it takes work, practice, learning, prayer, and grace to overcome the fear of failure

-not confronting our fear denies the grace of God and insults both his giving of the gift and his grace to sustain us as we are learning

12. Thoughts

-our minds and thoughts are important reflections of the image of God

-no other creature on Earth has our ability to think

-we are the only creatures called to love God with all our minds

Ex. Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

-we must own our own thoughts (never give your mind over to anyone)

-we must grow in knowledge and expand our minds in God’s word so we obey the commandment to “rule over” the Earth.

Ex. Psalm 119: “Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.”

-we must clarify distorted thinking

-take ownership of our thinking in relationships requires being active in checking out where we may be wrong

-ensure your thinking adapts and grows closer to reality and Biblical truths

-be clear on your communication of your thoughts to others

Ex. 1 Corinthians 2:11 “For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”

13. Desires

-our desires should lie within our boundaries: wants, dreams, wishes, goals, plans, hungers, and thirsts

-watch for the lack of boundaries within our own personality

-seek our real desires with pure motives

Ex. James 4: 2-3 “ You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

-actively seek our desires from God

Ex. Psalms 21: 2-3 “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Ex. Psalms 145: 19 “He fulfills the desires of those who fear him”

-we are commanded to play an active role in seeking our desires as we own our desires and pursue them to find fulfilment in life

Ex. Proverbs 13:19 “The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul.”

14. Love

-our ability to give and respond to love is our greatest gift

-the heart that God has fashioned in his image is the center of our being

-love is crucial to life

-people have difficulty to give or receive love because of past hurts and fears

-Bible is clear that the function of the heart is to receive grace and love inward and the flow then is outward

Ex. Matthew 22: 37 “Jesus replied: Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

Ex. Matthew 22: 39 “And the second is like it: love your neighbor as yourself.”

-our heart is a muscle, a trust muscle that needs to be used and exercised, but if injured then is will slow down or weaken

Chapter 2: Boundary Problems

Compliance

-compliant people don’t have clear boundaries, so they melt to the demands and needs of other people unable to stand alone, distinct from people who want something from them

-their spiritual radar is broken so they have no ability to guard their hearts

-saying no and building positive boundary conflicts will strengthen the compliant person-no more giving in

**not only does it keep us from evil in our lives, it often keeps us from recognizing evil

-giving into out of guilt feelings are complying with a harsh conscience

-giving into out of fear is the inability to confront others

-Biblical compliance is that God wants us to be compliant from the inside out (compassionate), not compliant on the outside and resentful on the inside (sacrificial)

Avoiders

-saying no to the good

-inability to ask for help, to recognize one’s own needs, to let others in

-avoidants withdraw then they are in need; they do not ask for the support of others

-the heart’ struggle is a confusion of boundaries as walls

-God designed our personal boundaries t have gates so you let the good in and keep the bad out

-we should have the freedom to enjoy safe relationships and to avoid destructive ones

-God even gives the freedom to let him in or to close him off

Ex. Revelation 3:20 “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

Controllers

-self-absorbed and undisciplined people who have little ability to curb their impulses or desires

-controllers have a hard time hearing, accepting, and respecting other boundaries

-they resist taking responsibility for their own lives, so they need to control others

**Aggressive controllers: don’t listen to others’ boundaries. They run over the person’s fences They can be verbally abusive, at times physically abusive. They are not aware that others even have boundaries.

-the world must fit into their idea of the way life should be

Ex. Peter is an example of an aggressive controller. He didn’t want to accept the Lord’s boundaries.

Mark 2: 33 “Get behind me, Satan! You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

-Jesus confronted Peter’s violation of his boundaries

**Manipulative controllers: try to persuade people out of their boundaries. They can talk people into saying yes when they mean no.

-their focus is on getting their way so they seduce others into carrying their burdens (good at using guilt messages)

-Ex. Jacob’s name means “deceiver.” He used his cleverness to about others’ boundaries. It took a confrontation with God in human form to break his deceitful ways

Genesis 32: 24-32 Jacob wrestled with Him all night long and in the end his name was changed to Israel

-manipulative controllers have a hard time when confronted with their dishonesty

-God clearly wants us to take responsibility, repent, and accept his and others’ limits

Nonresponsives

-they do not hear the needs of others because of their lack of attention

-inability to respond to the needs of others is neglecting our responsibility to be supportive and bring about peace

**a nonresponsive critical spirit projects their own self-hatred onto others because they hate being incomplete in themselves, so they ignore the needs of others

**narcissists are absorbed in their own desires and needs they exclude others

Ex. Philippians 2:4 “not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

**God wants us to take care of ourselves so that we can help others without moving into a crisis ourselves

Need both: functional and relational boundary

1. functional boundaries: refers to a person’s ability to complete a task, project, or job. It has to do with performance, discipline, initiative, and planning.

2. Relational boundaries: refers to the ability to speak truth to others with whom we are in relationship.

Chapter 3: How are Boundaries Developed

***Boundaries aren’t inherited. They are built.

-you can’t develop or set boundaries apart from supportive relationships with God and others

-our deepest need is to belong, to be in relationship, to have a spiritual and emotional home

-we are built for relationship. Attachment is the foundation of our soul’s existence (No God No Soul)

-children must learn boundaries so they are able to face the world

-teaching children to have a healthy internal safety and attachment vs. autonomy and independence

-balance to know self and how to relate to the world

-youth need to be able to say no to evil, respect self and others’ boundaries

-ability to be emotionally attached to others, but also ability to say appropriate nos to others without fear of loss of love

-be able to express anger without withdrawing builds freedom to be able to confront in a healthy manner

-children need to learn self-expression without fear of isolation or abandonment. Spiritual and emotional blackmail will teach a child to hide parts of themselves

-do not be hostile toward yourself or other’s boundaries-these kids learn to be people pleasers not God pleasers

-hostility is a poor counterfeit f God’ program of learning discipline which is the art of teaching self-control by use of consequences

-God’s discipline teachers, not punishes

Ex Hebrews 12:10-11 “They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

**Result of hostility an adult can suffer from depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, and substance-abuse problemes

-Overcontrolled people are subject to dependency, enmeshment conflicts, and difficulty setting and keeping firm boundaries

-Lack of Limits leads to lack of connection which produces an aggressively controlling person

-Inconsistent Limits causes massive boundary confusion so as an adult they never feel safe in a relationship. They are uncertain and turn to addictive behaviors like alcoholism

-Trauma is engrained into a child’s soul. It injures how boundaries are developed. It is an intensely painful emotional experience. It can be emotional, physical, and sexual.

***Trauma lies that the world is unsafe with nowhere to find protection.

Chapter 4: Ten Laws of Boundaries

1. The Law of Sowing and Reaping:

-law of cause and effect is a basic law of life= sow in the flesh, you will reap corruption for the flesh, but if you sow in the Spirit, you reap eternal life from the Spirit (Galatian 6:7-8)

Ex. Codependent people bring insults and pain on themselves when they confront irresponsible people They need to stop interrupting the Law of Sowing and Reaping in someone’s life

2. The Law of Responsibility:

-be responsible for yourself and then you can take care of others= we are to love one another not be one another

-Bible mandates for our own personal growth

Ex. Philippians 2: 12-13 “For it is God who works in you to will and to act to fulfill his good purpose.”

-put limits on another’s destructive and irresponsible behaviors-break patterns

-you are not responsible to rescue someone from the consequences of their sin

3. The Law of Power:

-they don’t have the fruit of self-control= can be seen in any 12-step program

-Confession in the Bible is that you have the power to agree with the truth about your problems

-you have the power to submit your inability to God and ask for strength as you humble yourself, ask for help, and yield to the promises in the Bible

-you have the power to search and ask God and others to reveal more what is within your boundaries

-you have the power to turn from evil through repentance=no one is perfect, but you are able to see your sinful parts

-you have the power to humble yourself and ask God and others to help you with your developmental injuries and leftover childhood needs

-you have the power to seek out those whom you have injured and make amends

-Boundaries help define what you do not have power over= Let go Let God

4. The Law of Respect

-we focus on others and lose clarity about ourselves

-Bible reminds us that when we judge we will be judged

-the commandment is do unto others as you have them do unto you

-we need to love the boundaries of others to command respect for our own

-walking in the Spirit, we give people the freedom to make their own choices

-God gives us freedom to choose him and he will not force it so when we accept others’ freedom, we feel better about our own

5. The Law of Motivation

-Bible says that true love leads to a blessed state and a state of cheer

-don’t give to others reluctantly-the motivation of your heart is what matters

-what can motivate fear, anger, and confrontations= no boundaries

a. fear of loss of love or abandonment= they give to get love and when they don’t get it, they feel abandoned

b. fear of other’s anger= people who just can’t stand for anyone to be mad at them

c. fear of loneliness= people who try to ‘win’ love and end their loneliness

d. fear of losing the ‘good me’ inside= people who think that to love means to always say yes

e. guilt= people trying to do enough good things to overcome the guilt inside and only way to feel good about themselves

f. payback= people who feel a burden to pay for all they have been given

g. approval= people seek the symbolic parent ‘well pleased’ and are filled with shame if not getting approval by others

f. overidentification with other’s loss= people who take on the disappointment, loss, and hurt of the other person so they deprive themselves of any happiness

6. The Law of Evaluation

-understand the difference between hurt and harm

-things can hurt and not harm us and even be good for us

-things that feel good can be very harmful

-you need to evaluate the effects of setting boundaries and be responsible to the other person

-like the analogy that broad is the gate of destruction or choosing to only walk through the narrow gate

-purposeful like leads to good fruit

-setting boundaries is difficult because it requires decision making and confrontation which may cause pain to someone you love

**Own your responses, respect others’ choices

7. The Law of Proactivity

-for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction

-get out of the victimized place (remove from physical and sexual abuse, emotional blackmail, and manipulation)

-don’t stay stuck in the “victim mentality”

-removal of reactive boundaries leads to freedom

-assertiveness is not bad, but takes practice so that you protect the treasures you find in your soul

8. The Law of Envy

James 4:2 “You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight.”

-reflect Satan as his sin when he coveted God’s position and led a rebellion where God cast him and his followers out of Heaven

-these people are perpetually insatiable and dissatisfied

-the problem with envy is that it focuses outside our boundaries onto others

-envy is a self=perpetuating cycle where boundaryless people feel empty and unfulfilled

-don’t envy others develop my own gifts God gave me

9: The Law of Activity

-our spiritual and emotional well-being depends on our having this spirit (not meant to be passive and inactive)

-being passive is intolerable to God

-God wants us to preserve our souls

-purpose driven= knock, seek, and ask

10. The Law of Exposure

-boundaries need to be made visible to others and communicated to them in relationship

-boundaries define you in relation to others

-be honest to yourself and others

-don’t keep things hidden as they lead to resentment

-speak up as it heals your own soul

-live in truth= live in Christ’s light

-truth in self reflect truth on the outside

Ex. Psalms 51: 6 “You desire truth in the innermost being, and in the hidden part. You will make me know wisdom.”

Chapter 5: Common Boundary Myths

1. Myth 1: If I Set boundaries, I’m Being Selfish

-objections to boundary setting for Christians: a deep-seated fear of being self-centered, interested only in one’s own concerns and not those of others

-there is a distinction between selfishness and stewardship

Selfishness= has to do with a fixation on our own wishes and desires to the exclusion of our responsibility to love others

Stewardship= being able to set limits is a gift from God as we develop our lives, abilities, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors

-God invests in us so we have spiritual and emotional growth so we owe it to ourselves to protect His investment

2. Myth 2: Boundaries are a Sign of Disobedience

-if you don’t go along with the program then you have an unresponsive heart, but internally you are trapped in endless activities of no genuine spiritual and emotional value

-God values motivation over fake service or commitments

-God is more concerned with our hearts than he is with our outward compliance

Ex. Hosea 6:6 “For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgement of God rather than burnt offerings.”

Ex. 2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

3. Myth 3: If I begin setting Boundaries, I will be Hurt by Others

-God never gave us the power or the right to control how others respond to our no. Some will welcome it; some will hate it.

-those people in our lives who can respect our boundaries will love our wills, our opinions, our separateness

-those people who can’t respect our boundaries are telling us that they don’t love our no. They only love our yes-our compliance

-setting limits has to do  with telling the truth because the Bible clearly distinguishes between those who love truth and those who don’t

-if telling the truth causes someone to leave you, this gives the church an opportunity to provide support and a spiritual and emotional home to the abandoned person

4. Myth 4: If I Set Boundaries, I will Hurt Others

-boundaries are not an offensive weapon, boundaries are a defensive tool

-Jesus said “no” to large groups so he could connect with God to replenish his soul

-appropriate boundaries don’t control, attack, or hurt anyone-saying not to an adult who are responsible to care for their own needs may cause discomfort, but doesn’t cause an injury.

-He knows we are to take responsibility for our lives and saying ‘no’ help us do just that.

5. Myth 5: Boundaries Mean That I am Angry

-anger tells us that our boundaries have been violated-it is much like a radar defense system

-anger serves as an early warning system that tells us we’re in danger of being injured or controlled

-individuals with injured boundaries often are shocked by the rage they feel inside when they begin setting limits

-often years of nos that were never voiced, never respected, and never listened to

-rebuild the injured parts of your soul, so you must take responsibility for healing the ‘treasures’ that may have been violated

-develop a sense of biblical boundaries to build confidence and leave the enslavement of fear of other people

6. Myth 6: When Others Set Boundaries, It Injures Me

-having to accept the boundaries of others is certainly not pleasant as no one enjoys hearing the word no

-self respect is from God so boundaries equal self-responsibility and mutual respect with others

-allows those in our lives to feel free to say no to us without guilt because we have somewhere else to go

-ability to accept others’ boundaries can indicate a problem in taking responsibility

7. Myth 7: Boundaries Cause Feelings of Guilt

-one of the major obstacles to setting boundaries with others in our lives is our feelings of obligation

-the idea is that because we have received something, we owe something= the gift of salvation

-God views his gift of salvation to us. It cost him his Son; It was motivated out of love for us

-distinguish here between those who ‘give to get’ and those who truly give selflessly

8. Myth 8: Boundaries are Permanent, and I’m Afraid of Burning my Bridges

-you own your own boundaries, they don’t own you

-changing and negotiating  boundaries has many Biblical precedents: Boundaries change

-ask God to give you a sense of confidence that he believe in good boundaries more than you do

-responding keeps you in control

-surrendering= you can’t give up more than God can give back

-I am responsible for what I want

-others are not responsible for my needs

-submission is a choice= not under law but Christ like relationships

-boundaries provide spiritual and emotional space

-God gives grace so you give grace to others

-do not conform to the world

-work is a partnership between you and God = find your work identity

-adhering to structures, boundaries, or rules can be very beneficial, but rules in and of themselves should not be your master, robbing you of the freedom to do good for others or yourself

-Be salt and light to reveal healing from God
