Galatians Study: Chapter 2-Defending the Gospel

 Galatians: Chapter 2

Paul: reminds the church who he was before Jesus and after in relationship with Jesus

-False gospel is works based salvation

-Purpose of church: build the ministry, show mercy/kindness/love, face persecution together, confront evil, bring Jesus into the public square

***relationships between Paul, apostles, and disciples imperfect, but hold each other accountable to keep within Jesus’ gospel and not stray to man’s laws

“But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not!” (Galatians 2:17).

-not justified by works or by the law

-justified by by belief in Christ through faith

- it is a simple act of belief through grace you are saved

Reminders:

-Jesus ate with sinners

-Jesus was of no sin

-Jesus said you can’t build again what I have destroyed (any other way to Christ-Jesus is the only way)

VS. 19

-law is not the way to life

-law is way to death

-law not intended to save

-law shows us we need a savior

-we need the 10 commandments, nothing wrong with laws as it reflects God’s character

“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds” (John 12:24).

-Christ lives in me by faith

-Christ removes living a life in the flesh

-we are ambassadors of Christ

-He loved me so much He gave His life for me

VS. 21

-don’t set aside the grace of God

-Jesus didn’t die in vain

-Jesus secured our salvation
