Galatians Study: Chapter 3-Justification by Faith

 Galatian Chapter 3

-we do not receive the Holy Spirit by works of the law but by hearing-it takes faith

-we do not suffer in vain

-He supplies the Spirit to us

-Be just as Abraham who believed

-we are the sons/daughters of Abraham’s faith

-Gentiles by faith will be justified too-Promise not just to the Jews but all mankind

-law brings a curse

-law is not faith

Galatians 3: 11-12

Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.”

-Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law

-Jesus Christ reaches all men

-Jesus Christ is the promise of the Spirit through faith

VS. 15

-Promises made

-Abraham seed = promise made

-Seed = Jesus Christ 430 years later confirmed by the covenant

Galatians 3: 19

“Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come.”

-the law is the tutor to bring us to Christ

-Christ became our mediator

-scripture has confirmed all under sin; promise by faith in Jesus Christ

-but after Christ, we no longer needed to tutored or become the tutor

***Christ alone is the cornerstone

Galatians 3: 26-29

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

***we are the heirs of God’s kingdom through faith in Christ

***we are heirs of the promise given to Abraham’s seed
