I see a number of anniversaries posted recently and I forgot to say I am thankful for my own anniversary
this month. It has been 6 years since my shingles outbreak that almost took my eyesight. Thankful to not have
had another outbreak. My nerve is more annoying than super painful so I want to say happy no shingles
anniversary to me. I wish you all blessings in your celebrations.
I read a couple quotes this week that are so true of our times right now:
“A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom
before equality will get a high degree of both.” — Milton Friedman
“One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results.”
― Milton Friedman
I think it is just ridiculous to have 120 days of a legislative session for there to be so many bills to move
through like speed dating. No wonder bills get passed and no one has a clue what it was or how it got
passed or the consequences of the decisions being made in such a short period of time. Also, I have read
through so many bills and I still have no clue what it is even saying. They are like word salads with what
seems to be the purpose of power grabs, but have no benefit for the people within our communities. It is
very tiring and frustrating so those of you who are like me trying to tread the waters of politics I feel for you.
I am also striving to be more involved with the decisions of the school board, but man doing all this is like a
full time job. It is essential to have a voice and as so many changes are being made on the federal level I see
the counter-strikes being used on a local level. So many conflict-of-interest meetings. No wonder when people
think of politics they automatically think corruption. There is a very dark side. I just had not anticipated just how
dark. Wading through the quicksand has been a huge learning experience. But, being invisible is just not an option
anymore. We have learned so much from the lockdowns that we all can hopefully agree to never allow that to happen again. As I think about my own time before the school board to introduce my petition to open up what has been hidden
that I need to prepare my mind for action. I am reminded that the Apostle Peter uses gird your loins so not weighed down or
held back but be prepared for the fight/battle.
May we all:
-not fall for the distorted water-downed word of God that leads to lack of conviction
***pray to be strengthened against emotionally based theology
***pray to revive the lost art of critical thinking and scrutinize everything against the Word of truth
“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when
Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming” (1 Peter 1:13).
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;
for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Peter 1: 15-16).
I listened to this song “What If” by Consumed by Fire as I thought about if my book will be successful
and if my part in the political realm will really make a difference. My prayer to both is yes. Listen to the
words and see if you can envision just how much you can do in your lifetime as well.
But what if the door swings open
To all I've been hoping and praying for
And what if my season of waiting
Was changing and leading to something more, more
What if jumping leads to flying
And fear didn't stop me from trying
What if God's just waiting for me to start seeing
How big He is
What if?
Blessings to you and your family,
